Starting in 2009, we utilized outside companies to sell books for us, in an effort to raise funds, and get them out of our building. Once in a while our friends group would list what we thought was special on E-bay or Amazon. In the Summer of 2011 we began working with Neatoscan to sell our donations and discards on the internet.
Previously, our biggest challenge was figuring out what was “good” to sell and what wasn't. The program Neatoscan set us up with took all that guess work away. In a matter of minutes, donations and discards are evaluated, listed, and removed from our building. Equally important, we were able to merge this with our existing processes, so that its effect on our daily operations is minor.
Selling books on the internet is a foreign place compared to the world of libraries. There is a learning curve to overcome and the materials do not list themselves. Fortunately, Neatoscan has been there every step of the way. Answering questions, assisting with shipping or follow up accounting. It has not mattered, when we have needed an answer, they have tried to help us find it.
Today we are sending between 100 and 150 pieces a month and we are depositing between $750 and $1000 every month. That pretty much says it all. Give Neatoscan a chance to teach you how this can happen in your system. It’s worth it.

Numbers do not lie. Take a look at the graph below. When this library contacted us in June 2011 they were averaging $80 a month total from 3 different outside vendors. By implementing our software, and adjusting their existing processes, they saw a 986% increase in their net profits over the previous year.
